In the Sant Tukaram movie, it is shown that he has a wife and two kids, but he doesn't really take care of them. The wife has to somehow manage the house and most of the times there is not a single grain of food at home because Tukaram is not earning and if they somehow manage to get food from anyone (not stealing), he would distribute it among the poor. Even while going to Vaikhunthloka he asked only his wife if she would go with him, what about his kids, what would happen to them,he did not think. Moreover the village was going through severe drought. It is written in Gita that we should not avoid our karmic obligations. But he was doing exactly that, but at the end his wife and children are literally left orphaned but a special vehicle comes for him to go to Vaikhunthloka. Why so?
I understand God will take care of his family and probably he was also an advanced soul( don't know why he got married and also had kids), but there is still some element of selfishness. Could there be any other explanation for this?
Sant Tukaram and Lord Buddha walking out on their families was considered fine, but when Meera-bai (great Krishna devotee) walking out of her family was not. She was given poison to drink. Why?
Answer:: In Bhagvad Gita, it is written that first duty is towards God. So, either make your family Krishna conscious or if they become road blocks in you are Krishna consciousness u are allowed to leave them. When Krishna used to play flute in Vrindavan....all the gopis used to leave their husbands and family behind n come running to him. So basically the message which is sent is....do your karmic obligations but still don't think that karmic obligations hold a higher position than love for God. Love for God had to be on the top priority list. Because if u see family, kids, home, job etc is all maya (illusonary materialistic energy). Most of the people are engulfed in maya. All these are stories which are created just to give the idea to get rid of maya n focus on supreme. Love for supreme has to be beyond everything. Ab tu soch.....agar tere liye vaikunth se plane aata hai aaj....will u go leaving ur kids behind? Nahi jayegi na. Main bhi shayad nahi jaa paun.... Because we are under the influence of maya ki we are the care takers of our kids. If we go unhe kaun sambhalega. But when our consciousness rises further....we will see that actually god is the only one who takes care of everyone n who owns everyone. Our kids are also souls with their fate written accordingly. Even if we go....God will take care of them like he takes care of all souls. But are we ready to leave everything and everyone for Him. Once we come to that stage only then we get God.
Remember Shri Ramakrishna paramhansa's story. I had told u. About the man who wanted to see God. Ramakrishna paramhansa took him and drowned his head into water. When he asked why u did this, He answered that when your feelings and emotions towards Lord Almighty will be such that you feel you are unable to even breath, if you are unable to see Him - then you will discover God. But does that happen to us and we want to see God? That mean we are still not even at devotee level. But some foolish people may try to imitate loving God and leaving their family behind ….that is escapism. First increase your Spiritual level to higher level, purify your soul to that extent that you will stop breathing if you are not able to feel and see God. Only then will Lord send His divine vehicle to take your soul to Him About Meera-bai...same thing was conveyed... Usually for wives (India), husbands are respected similar to God. But God wants to show that His position is even above that of a husband. Being a female & having this approach will be extremely difficult (especially in Indian society)...so difficult that society will make your life poisonous. But if u still desire Krishna even after facing so many hurdles and troubles, you will eventually achieve to be with Him.
